ROBERT THOMPSON COCHRAN, of Dutch decent, son of Andrew J. and Sarah Black Cochran was born August 12, 1858 in Harrisburg,Pennsylvania. He moved with his family to Sedgwick County, Kansas where he received his education.

At the age of 23 years, Robert married MARTHA JANE WALLACE, age 18 years, of Scotch-Irish decent, on December 25,1881 in Greenwich, Sedgwick County, Kansas, daughter of Thomas Wallace and Mary Wyatt.

Married life was good to Robert and Martha as they worked hard and raised a large family. Robert and Martha Jane had seven children: CHARLES D. abt 1884; ANNIE LORENA, born October 24,1885; JAVAN C., abt.1889, THOMAS JEFFERSON, born November 22, 1893, ANDREW JACKSON, born November 26,1895. The five children listed above were born in Greenwich, Sedgwick County, Kansas. The last two children, LENNIE LEOTA, born February 14, 1899, and CLARA BELLE, born
December 03, 1903 were both born in Cedar Vale, Chautauqua County, Kansas.

Robert T. and Martha Jane Cochran moved to Bartlesville in early 1905. On September 11, 1913 Martha J. Cochran purchased property and remained there until her death. Robert was employed at smelter No.1 as a laborer where he remained until 1920.

In 1920 Robert began working for the Bartlesville Gas and Electric Co., where he worked until his death from Dropsy on January 19, 1926 in Bartlesville, Washington Co., Oklahoma. He was laid to rest with his infant daughter, Lennie, at Ozro Cemetery, near Cedar Vale, Chautauqua County, Kansas.
