Ruth "Ted" Garms Terry was the daughter of Louis and Alwilda Goff Garms and was born April 4, 1905 in Bangs, Brown County, Texas. She Attended Daniel Baker College in Brownwood and in 1931 received her bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas. In 1955 she earned her master's degree from Sul Ross College in Alpine. She was a member of local and state school and library organizations, the National Education Association and the American Association of University Women. She taught school and was librarian at the Lake View High School in San Angelo, Texas. She was the author of "Retired Teacher on Candid Typewriter", a book of Reflections, Poems and Memories, published by Anchor Publishing Company in San Angelo, Texas. She also wrote several poems and "funny articles" published in Reader's Digest. In 1958 she married Rex Gorden Terry, a retired rancher and stock farmer. Ruth's life motto, published in the "San Angelo Standard-Times" was 1. Put God first; 2. Everybody play fair; 3. Have fun along the way. She died on March 5,1997 at the age of 92.
