He was born October 12, 1940 in La Harpe, Illinois to George and Alice Cox. He married Shirley Jean Miller, December 3, 1961 in La Harpe. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Lawrence (and Angel) Cox, Jr. of Galesburg; a daughter, Barb Hall of Dexter, Missouri; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Earl Cox and V.J. Cox and a sister, Georgie Carns.
Lawrence worked for Corbin Furniture store in Galesburg as a furniture mover for several years and retired in 2012. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.
