Goldie Gertrude Durbin Waterman was my mother, the daughter of John Vincent and Sarah Jane Durbin Durbin. Born in Christian County, IL. on 28 April, 1903, shemarried Raymond Patton Waterman, my father, on 15 April 1925 at St. Mary's Church, Taylorville, IL. She is the mother of 12 children, 6 sons, 6 daughters. During the depression years, she began her own turkey business that was to last for 40 years.After women had the right to vote, mother voted for the first time in 1924 with her sisters. Goldie was a devout and devoted Catholic mother. She was involved in all aspects of church, farm and community life. She died March 2, 1981 and is buried with her husband, Raymond, at St. Msurice Cemetery at Morrisonville, Illinois.
