Richard D. “Doc” Pennington, 77, of Salina, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. He was born April 27, 1939, in Atwood, the son of Ivan Pennington and Audrey (Rummel) Gannon. He married Jacqueline Vogt, of Davenport, Iowa, on March 20, 1962, and to this union they were blessed with four children.

He was an active member of the ISIS Shrine Temple, member of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, president of Kansas Kids Wrestling, president of Babe Ruth Baseball and was on the school board at Southeast of Saline.

Survivors include: his wife, Jacqueline; four children, Lisa (Jim) Passmore, Kelly (Bob) Lathrop, Todd (Shelly) Pennington and Dr. Brett (Christy) Pennington; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Pat (Richard) Most, Dee (Barney) Harwerth and Nyla (Ted) Domsch; and brother, Cliff Pennington.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina.
