MR.ROBERT BOYD, 3RDOF TROCHRIG, b. at Glasgow, in 1578 and is included with his mother, Margaret Chalmer,in a premonition to them by John, Earl of Cassills, or the redemption of a wadset on 21 September 1595. He was appointed Professor of Philosophy at the University of Samur, in France, and was called back to Scotland by James VI. to take up the office of Principal of the College of Glasgow. He was served heir to his father, firstly, on 3 November 1601, then in the lands of Trochrig on 16 February 1608. Red Book of Scotland
