Emma Luvenia (Sanders) Hogue was born November 1, 1940 to the union of Clifton and Emma Jean (Perry) Sanders in Marion, Alabama. She departed this life and received her wings, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Lutheran Life Villages, at the age of 78, in the presence of her loving family.

Affectionately known as “Tot”, she received Christ at an early age and joined Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Fred Craig Sr. in Marion, Alabama where she was baptized, grew, and developed a relationship with Christ.

She attended and was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1957 and went on to attend Alabama A & M University receiving a Bachelorette of Science degree in three years and to then become a teacher in Aliceville, Alabama.

In 1962, Emma, was united in marriage to Mr. James W. Hogue. To this union of fifty-three years were born their two children, Vickie A. and Jerome W. Hogue.

In 1970, she and James relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana from the south to avail themselves of job opportunities. She became employed with Pines of America which later came to be known as Mattel Power Wheels where she was employed for twenty-nine years until their closing.

She epitomized the terms Phenomenal Woman and dedicated wife. The love that she shared with her family and friends was infinite, priceless and regal!!

Emma was a faithful and dedicated member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of her uncle the late Dr. Reverend Calvin Perry Sr. and then later Reverend Gonzales Martin until her health began to fail.

Preceding Emma in death were her parents, Clifton and Emma Jean Sanders, her husband, James W. Hogue, brothers, Clifton Sanders Jr. (Sonny) and Larnzo Sanders (Buddy).

Surviving to cherish Emma’s memory are her daughter, Vickie A. (Joseph West) and son, Jerome W. Hogue (MyLien); grandchildren, Tristan (Wendy), Kenny (Lesley), Jasmine, and Jordan (Hannah); six great-grandchildren, sisters, Evelyn Samples of Mobile, Alabama and Jessie Deane Sanders of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Luvenia Sanders of Youngstown, Ohio, Mary Alice Hogue of Toledo, Ohio and Helen Hogue of Chicago, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hogue of Chicago Illinois, and Clarence Hogue of Houston, Texas; best friend, Linda Curry-Watson; special nieces, Deborah Samples and Krista Sanders lovingly known as “Her Missy Pooh.” A special great-granddaughter, Kenyera affectionately known as “Angel”, along with a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
