It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence John Kennedy, "Larry", announces his passing. Larry, 88, of Willis Texas, formerly of Queens New York, passed away on Monday February 11, 2019. Larry was a strong, devoted, determined; Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Veteran who is loved and missed by many. He will be beloved and remembered always. Larry was born December 17, 1930 in Queens, New York, the only child to John Lawrence and Mary A. Kennedy. He grew up in Queens, New York. After high school he worked as a Hardware Clerk until he entered into, Active Service in the United States Armed Forces in 1951. He served as a Private 2nd Class in 1952 and a Corporal in 1953 before being Honorably Discharged to the United States Army Reserve. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals, including the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. Larry married his wife Helen in 1955. Together they had three children, Catherine, John, and Susan. Larry loved his family dearly, he always thrived when they were around. He especially loved watching the little ones run and play. Over the years, this was his children, then grandchildren, and more recently, his great grandchildren. Throughout the years, Larry had many occupations and trades, including being a Carpenter where he contributed to some of the original construction of New York City. Over his 88 years, he found an interest in collecting movies. Most of these being old war movies, westerns, and anything history related. He would always say "I may have been born in the north, but I couldn't get to the south quick enough". In the 90's Larry moved to Texas, where his family soon followed. Larry is survived by his daughter Susan Andree and husband Brett of Montgomery; his son John Lawrence Kennedy of Willis, grandchildren; Michael Kennedy and wife Megan of Chico, California; Jennifer Kennedy Evans and husband Joseph of Conroe; Charlie Kennedy and Samantha Miller of Conroe; Larry Kennedy of Willis, Clint Andree of Montgomery, and Austin Andree of Montgomery; great grandchildren; Brayleigh Jane Walters and Kinleigh Lane Kennedy of Conroe, and soon to be - baby Logan James Kennedy of Chico, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Kennedy, wife Helen Kennedy, and daughter Catherine Kennedy. There will be a private Traditional Veterans Service held at the Houston National Cemetery.
