Johnny Ray Yates, Jr., of St. James, formerly of Rolla, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the age of 50.
He was born on March 14, 1966 in Springfield, Illinois to Johnny Ray Yates, Sr. and Patricia (Lewis) Yates. On February 27, 1988 he married Terri M. (Sullivan) Yates in Kenai, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ova and Reba Lewis and John and Viola Yates; and a special cousin, John Ellis.
Johnny was a 1984 graduate of Rolla High School. Johnny loved to hunt and fish and was an avid wrestling fan. He was the best fish cooker in the country.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Terri Yates of St. James, MO; his parents, Johnny, Sr. and Patty Yates of Rolla; one daughter, Morgan Giesler and husband Keith of St. James, MO; two sisters, Carrie Kubley and husband Rob and Tina Sands and husband Walter; all of Rolla; and five grandchildren, Madison, Brailei, Joy, Randall and Bryghton.
A funeral service for Johnny Ray Yates, Jr. will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 26 at the funeral home.
