GRAND PRAIRIE, LOUISIANA
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, February 16, 2019, for Kevin Matthew Coleman, 28, who passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Grand Prairie, LA.

Brother Kevin West, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte, will conduct all funeral services.

Burial will take place in Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery in Ville Platte, LA.

Kevin “Matthew” Coleman passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019. He was surrounded by close family and friends. Matthew was a loving husband to Elizabeth, an amazing father to Tucker and Thomas, a wonderful son and son in law as well as a proud brother and uncle. He was a twinkle in his mother’s eyes.

He was so proud to follow in the foot steps of his dad and become a firefighter. He was assigned to St. Landry Fire Department, District 3, until his illness prevented him from doing so. He then decided to go back to school for nursing and was focusing on his studies when he became ill. Matthew was an avid sports enthusiast. He played every sport available in school, but he really excelled in baseball. He was a diehard Saints and LSU Tiger Fan. Matthew also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Matthew was an inspiration to his family and friends. He loved all kinds of music. He loved to laugh, dance, and watch spooky movies. Matthew had a great love for his siblings. He and his sister Laura had an amazing bond. He was so proud of his brother Tanner and then there’s baby sister Lil Red (Kelsey). He loved his stepmother Becky and shared a tremendous bond with his stepfather Randy.

Matthew, above all else, loved the Lord. His faith was very important to him. He remained faithful to the Lord throughout his illness and used his testimony to inspire and encourage others. Throughout the past two years. Through terrible pain, fear and overwhelming sadness at the realization that he would be leaving his bride and young boys, yet whenever someone stopped by, or when posting on social media, the expressions were always uplifting, graceful, and full of gratitude. Throughout his illness, he never lost his sense of humor, keeping Elizabeth laughing, even through less than perfect circumstances.

Matthew is loved so dearly by so many and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 2 ½ years, Elizabeth (LaFleur) Coleman; sons, Matthew Tucker Coleman and Thomas Brice Coleman; father and stepmother, Kevin Coleman and Becky Coleman both of DeBerry, TX; mother and stepfather, Sheila Owen of Ville Platte and Randy Robertson of Hessmer, LA.; sisters, Laura Ellen Coleman and Kelsey Coleman; brother, Tanner Brice Coleman; paternal grandparents, David and Barbara Kitterlin; mother in law and father in law, Darrin and Debbie LaFleur; nephews, Gabe Coleman, Cooper LaFleur, and Lucas LaFleur; nieces, Olivia Coleman, Ana LaFleur, and Hadley Hubard; brother in laws, Christopher LaFleur, Joshua LaFleur, and Kyle LaFleur; sister in laws, Kelsey LaFleur and Cecilia Pacheco; numerous aunts and uncles; and his best friend, Jeremy Waldrop.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Judy Arnold.
