Thomas Oral Norton Jr, 89, passed away Thursday February 14, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born March 14, 1929, at Neelys Landing, Missouri the son of Thomas Oral Norton Sr. and Grace Pearl (Rumfelt) Norton. He married Peggy Marlene Rendleman on March 4, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas. They were married 54 years. She passed away October 28, 2005. Oral served in the U.S. Army. He was very proud of the fact that he was Sergeant First Class of a Heavy Mortar Company during the Korean Conflict. He spent his career on the river as a towboat Captain. He married Aldeane (Gollon) Wills on December 9, 2006. They were married 12 years before his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy, a son, Thomas Oral (Tommy) Norton lll and one brother, Floyd Norton. He is survived by his wife, Aldeane Norton, three daughters, Jana Norton (Fritz) , Susan (Doug) Floyd, Becky ( Keith) Foster and one son, Jason (Cindy) Norton. Several Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lucille Robertson, and Betty (Joe) Clover and one brother, John (Donna) Norton. He has many nieces, nephews, and many friends who loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a soft spoken, loving and kind hearted man. Friends may call from 1 p.m. and until the time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Graveside services include Military rites and conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Honor Team of Marion. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Building Fund of the Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, Missouri. Your local VFW, or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
