Darlene F. Bethel, 91, of Normal, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, Bloomington. A graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, with the Rev. Jim Warren officiating. There will be no visitation.
Darlene was born July 27, 1927, in Bloomington, a daughter of Fred M. and Bertha Roth Bragonier. She married Earl William “Bill” Bethel on Oct. 25, 1947, in Bloomington. Bill passed away May 14, 2009. Together they farmed for many years in Downs Township.
Darlene is survived by a daughter, Dianne (Doug) DeFilippo and nieces, Carol (John) Scher and Sue (Martin) Ross.
Darlene was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Arbuckle and brother-in-law, Warren “Smiley” Arbuckle.She was a member of First Christian Church, Bloomington, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was an avid card player and always enjoyed family get-togethers and camping trips.
