Memorial Service Saturday February 16, 2019 at 10:30 am at Maple Plain Community Church in Maple Plain with Rev. Gregg Donnelly officiating; a gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church; interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
She was born on July 10, 1920, to Paul and Beulah Cochran in Ipswich, S.D. She grew up in Ipswich with her older sister, Pauline, and younger brother, Keith, graduating from Ipswich High School. While a student at Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, S.D., she met Lester Pearson at a local church. They were married in her parents’ home in Ipswich on Dec. 6, 1941, the day before Pearl Harbor. The report of their wedding appeared on the front page of the local newspaper just below the headline announcing America’s entry into World War II.
Lois and Lester were married for more than 50 years, living first in Sioux Falls, later in the Minneapolis area and, after their retirement, in North Port, Fla. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in colonial Williamsburg, Va., with many family members.
In Sioux Falls, Lois was a secretary for the L.C. Lippert Co. In Minneapolis, she was a secretary for A and P Tea Co. and, after that office closed, was the church secretary at Brooklyn Center Baptist Church. Her interests included writing and several of her articles were published in religious publications.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; sister, Pauline Lordi; brother, Keith Cochran; and daughter, Linda Hustad.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Alice Pearson and Laurel and Carol Pearson, and by her son-in-law L. Arnold Hustad; as well as by six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
