vii. (William?) Tyson (bap. 23 Apr. 1875)
viii. George (bap. 22 Oct. 1876) - with wife, Elizabeth, George Park had a daughter, Marion

Paternal ancestors
Father John Park was baptised at St. Mary the Virgin in Egton-cum Newland, then Lancashire (now Cumbria), on May 13th 1837, the son of Jane (1807-1839) and Richard Park who lived at Boustead Yates. John married Elizabeth Crewdson on February 13th, 1864 at St. Mary's in Ulverston.

After the death (before the 1891 census) of Elizabeth, John remarried Hannah Mary Stafford on April 20, 1892 in Ulverston. They had a daughter, Ada.

According to the 1841 census John's father, Richard Park, was born around 1814. He in turn was the son of Margaret Whitehead (b. 1767) and John Park (1765-1836) and married (on 14. Nov. 1831 at St. Mary's in Ulverston) Jane Park Mattison, the daughter of Jane Barben (d. 1822) and Thomas Park (1769-1852), husbandman, who had inherited Bottom, Mansriggs, from his uncle, James Park (Memorial# 176738694). Following the death of Jane, Richard remarried in 1840 to Isabella Askew (b. 1809) with whom he also had issue.

Maternal ancestors
Elizabeth Crewdson was the daughter of Elizabeth (Betty) Stones (1811-1891) and John Crewdson (aka Crowdson) and was baptised at St. Mary's in Ulverston on September 7th, 1834. The Crowdsons had 9 children. He was the son of Hannah Watson (ca. 1778-1825) and John Crowdson (1778, Bardsea - 1851). Betty was the daughter of Elizabeth Benson and James Stones.

From "Chronicles of the Town & Church of Ulverston":
(a) The favourite Christian names in existence in Furness about a.d. 12oo were Bennet, Adam, Cudbert, Roger, Christopher, Rowland, and Robert. There is evidence which places this statement beyond dispute.

(b) Equally certain is it that in everyday life none of these were ever known as such. They were Ben, Atkin, Crud, Hodge, and Dodge, Chris (perhaps Case), Rawlin or Rowlin, and Robin or Dob.

(c) At this time (circa 1200) surnames were becoming hereditary and as a large proportion of our patronymics are formed from baptismal names, every nick form or pet form then popular was a candidate for immortality.

(d) Hence Ben-son, Atkin-son, Crewd-son, or Crowd-son, Hodg-son, or Dodgson, Cas-son (probably), Rawlin-son, or Rowling-son, and Dob-son, or Robin-son, are with us to-day, and represent some of the oldest families in Furness.
