Shirley Ruth Sanders Ambrister, 80, of Maryville passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Othella Sanders; sister, Marianne Chambers; parents-in-law, Rex and Ruth Clabough.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Billy F. Ambrister; sisters, Alice Faye Moyers and Jane (Dan) Holloway; brother Wesley (Judy) Sanders; daughters, Dee (Steve) Carpenter and Tracey (Bill) Boyce; granddaughters, Jenny (A.J.) Haynes, Teri (Charles) Best, and Cathy (Scott) Phillips; great-granddaughters, Faith Leigh Haynes and Laura Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Maryville and was retired from J.C. Penney.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the kind and loving care of Dr. Mark Green, the staff of Blount Dialysis Center, the nurses and staff of Blount Memorial Hospital 4 South, and Blount Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. John UMC or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Graveside service and interment will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Logan’s Chapel Cemetery in Wildwood.
