N. Charleston - Jerry Gwendolyn "Gwen" Caldwell, 71, of North Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 13, 2019. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 18, 2019 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Strickland Cemetery in Smoaks, SC. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service. Gwen was born March 10, 1947 in Smoaks, SC, daughter of the late Cecil and Myrtice Strickland. She was a financial manager for SPAWAR and had an affinity for reading, gardening and painting. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family. She is survived by her first husband, Chad Caldwell; her daughter, Shannon C. Padgett (Sam) of North Charleston, SC; two grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Reffitt and Rebecca Danielle Padgett; two sisters, Fan Jernigan and Martha S. Mazyck; two brothers, Robert "Kevin" Strickland and Symian Carter Strickland; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Strickland and Johnny Strickland and one sister, Doris Ladelle Strickland.
