Leona "G.G." Jolley Grubbs August 12th 1917 to October 25th 2014

She was preceded in death by her husband the late William "Bill" Harvey Grubbs (1916-1972). They had seven children; four daughters and three sons. She will be placed next to him on November 14th 2014.

Daughters, Jeri Belcher and her husband the late Robert "Bob" C. Belcher, Barbara "Bobbie" Jordan and her husband the late Don Jordan, Linda Grubbs, Pamela Soocey and her husband Walter Soocey. Her sons, R. Ray Grubbs and wife Terry Grubbs, the late Larry Lamont Grubbs and his wife Belle Grubbs, and William "Bill" Grubbs III.

In the afternoon of October 25th, 2014, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Leona "G.G." was surrounded and comforted by her family in her home at the time of her passing. G.G. was 97 years old. "G.G" was her preferred moniker, it was given to her by her grandchildren.

Leona Jolley Grubbs was born in Red Cap, Duchesne, Utah on August 12th 1917. She moved to San Diego, California over 70 years ago and raised all of her children there. She is the very proud grandmother to 54 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and 21 great great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving child of Alma Franklin Jolley and Eldora Hutchings Jolley. Her late brothers and sisters were, Alma Leamon Jolley (1900-1900), Dora Orissa Jolley (1901-1902), Heber Carlos Jolley (1903-1903), Annie Lovisa Day (1898-1995), Alberta Lapreal Wolfe (1904-1984), Screlda Jane Clerico (1905-2007), Joseph Melvin Jolley (1907-1937), Elvin Alma Jolley (1911-1988) and Nedra Ivers (1920-2003).

She loved her family more than life and sacrificed everything for them. She was loved, adored, honored and the life and joy of our family. We will miss you beyond any words can define and the reason it hurts so much to separate from you is because all our souls were connected by you….our silver thread of love.

The Watcher

She always leaned to watch for us Anxious if we were late, In winter by the window, In summer by the gate. And though we mocked her tenderly Who had such foolish care, The long way home would seem more safe, Because she waited there. Her thoughts were all so full of us, She never could forget, And so I think that where she is She must be watching yet. Waiting 'til we come home to her Anxious if we are late Watching from Heaven's window Leaning from Heaven's gate.
