DARLENE J. SWANSON, 81, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died Monday, May 28, 2007 at the nursing home.
Darlene was born April 22, 1926, in Chicago, IL, to John and Alice (Brands) DeVries. She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1944. She married Budd V. Swanson on February 14, 1945 in Chicago. He died August 3, 2000. Darlene worked at G.E. in Morrison for 27 years, retiring in 1987. She did volunteer work for many organizations, enjoyed playing cards and shopping. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family and friends.
Survivors include six daughters, Sherry (Mrs. Richard) Bielema of El Paso, TX, Sandy (Mrs. William) Dorathy of Lyndon, IL, Darla (Mrs. Robert) Evans of Moline, IL, Julie (Mrs. Richard) Harden of Grand Detour, IL, Jill Swanson of Holmdel, NY, Becky (Mrs. Kirk) Main of Severna Park, MD; one son, Ronald John (Sonja) Swanson of Davis Junction, IL; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Jan) DeVries of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Budd; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Babe Renkes and Janice Nelson.
