Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Second Christian Church in New London, MO. Rev. Faye Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in New London, MO.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until time of services on Saturday at the Second Christian Church in New London, MO.
Elnora was born January 6, 1926, in New London, MO to Fred and Laura Harris Hawkins.
She was married to Lelon Perkins on December 10, 1946 in New London, MO. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include: one daughter in law, Connie Perkins, one stepson Billie F. Burton (Ruthie), six grandchildren, Leldan Perkin (Yvette), Lakiska Burton, Lashonda Burton, Carlos J. Harris (Marcy), Lamont Burton and Latoshia Brittman, 9 great grandchildren: Leidaya Perkins, Kenan Perkins, Branson Lackey, J.C. Lackey, Armani Clark, Zyshawn Gay, Dimari Thomas, Christian Harris and Cameron Harris. Also surviving is a very special friend, Annette Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousin.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters May E. Davis, Mary Margaret Stewart, Nellie Parsons, and Zella Parsons, 1 brother, Fred Pearl Hawkins, 1 son, Leon Perkins and her husband Lelon Perkins.
Elnora retired from the Luther Manor Nursing Center where she was a cook for many years. Elnora had also previously worked at the Hannibal Senior Citizens Center as a cook, at a local sewing factory, for REC Electric and at the Ralls County Courthouse.
A talented cook, Elnora prepared the best fried chicken, green beans and collard greens. Working in her garden or caring for her flowers and simply being outside were moments that Elnora enjoyed. Taking walks, quilting and watching old westerns on TV were a few of Elnora’s favorites. Most of all Elnora simply enjoyed spending time with her family.
A woman of strong faith, Elnora read her Bible daily and was a longtime member of the Second Christian Church of New London, MO.
Pallbearers will be Branson Lackey, Leldan Perkins, Larry Abbey, Donald Burton, Victor Murphy, and Gian Griffin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Burton, J.C. Lackey, Gerard Perkins and Reginald Burton.
Memorial contributions may be made to James O'Donnell Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
