Lois Ione was born on June 20, 1924 in rural Talmage, Nebraska to Jess and Bertha (Frerichs) Walker. She was baptized on October 7, 1924 at Trinity Lutheran Church and later confirmed on May 16, 1937. Lois graduated from Talmage High School with the class of 1941.
She lived and worked in Lincoln, Nebraska before returning to Talmage to marry Dale E. Meyer on June 27, 1944. They were blessed with three children: Ann, Susan and Mark.
Lois was a very active member at Faith Lutheran Church, was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary 8 and 40, served on the Talmage Library Board and participated in many community activities. In May of 2018, Lois chose to make the Ambassador Care Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska her home.
On February 6, 2019, she entered Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska where Lois passed away on Tuesday, February 12 having reached the earthly age of ninety-four years, seven months and twenty-three days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale, brothers Addison and Delbert Walker.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ann L. (James) Timme of North Muskegon, MI; Susan K. Meyer of LaVista, NE; Mark D. (Jackie) Meyer of Southlake, TX; 4 grandchildren: Matthew (Megan) of Dallas, TX; Erin (Ron) Weisguth of Overland Park, KS; Lindsay Meyer of Denver, CO; Mackenzie (Kevin) Sullivan of Manhattan Beach, CA; 7 great-grandchildren: Drew, Walker and Kendall Timme; Colton and Kellen Weisguth; Hudson and Bode Sullivan; a sister Marietta Poulson of Elm Creek, NE; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage, Nebraska with Pastor Glatha Rathjen officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in rural Talmage at a later date. The family requests that memorials in her name be given to Faith Lutheran Church and Talmage Fire and Rescue.
