Lyla L. Madden, age 78, Rothschild, was called home by her Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. She has been a patient since Friday, July 1. She fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Lyla was born on March 14, 1938 in Lemmon, South Dakota. She was one of 15 children. Her parents were John Huber and Kathrine (Schlepp) Huber. Lyla completed grade school in a one room school house, 13/4 miles from the Huber homestead in Grant County, North Dakota. High school was completed in Lemmon, South Dakota. She then went to Northwest Bible College in Minot, North Dakota for a time, and then worked for Northwest Bell in Minot. It is there she met Patrick Madden, who was stationed there and serving in the Air Force. They were married on October 10, 1964 in Lemmon, South Dakota. Shortly thereafter they moved to Marshfield, WI for a couple of years. After that they made their home in the Wausau area, where they currently live. Lyla worked for the General Telephone Company as a Repair Clerk, retiring in 1991.
Lyla's interests were; volunteering at various nursing homes, doing sing a longs, visiting with the residents; volunteering at Church for years wherever needed; having lunch with family and friends; reading; flower gardening and her exercise groups.
Lyla is survived by her husband, Patrick madden, Wausau; two brothers Allen (Patricia) Huber, Medford and Jerome (Pearl) Huber, Medford; two sisters Leilla (twin sister) Moll, Fargo, North Dakota and Sharon Kouba of Tucson, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Lyla was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings- Edna, Edwin, William, Oscar, Paul, Lydia, Ruby, Rueben, Leo and Fred.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a Memorial Service for Lyla on Monday, July 11th at Christ Community Church in Schofield at 7:00 p.m. A visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Dr. Robin Wilde will be officiating.
Memorials will be self-directed by the family or to Mount View Care Center.
A special thank you to the loving support of Dr. Ahuza and his caring staff at Aspirus Hospital, including Mount View Care Center and Aspirus Hospice.
