Mrs. Silas Hiler.
DIED--At her home in Canton, Ill., Saturday, November 12, 1910, Mrs. Silas Hiler, aged 75 years, 3 months and 3 days.
Her maiden name was Miss Pleasy Wills, and she was born in Ohio, August 8, 1835. She was married in her native state to a man by the name of [Albert] Anderson about fifty-five years ago and to them was [sic] born two children, Mrs. Annie Blythe, now of White City, Kansas, and Frank Anderson who died about 20 years ago. Her marriage to Silas Hiler occurred in 1863 [July 4, 1865. They became the parents of five children, four of whom with the husband and father survive, and are as follows: Mrs. Emma Buell of near Carthage, Mrs. Mary Brill, of LaHarpe; Mrs. Florence Martin and Ed. Hiler, of Canton. A son William died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Hiler lived in the vicinity of LaCrosse for about twenty years, the husband being employed on the T. P. & W., railroad. Later they came to LaHarpe where they resided until two years ago when they removed to Canton.
Mrs. Hiler united with the Christian church in early girlhood but affiliated with the M. E. church in later years. Her last illness was of about two years duration, but only part of that time was she bedfast.
She was a good wife and mother and every [sic] ready to assist friend or neighbor in sickness or distress.
The funeral and burial occurred at Canton, Monday, November, 14, at 2 p. m., the burial taking place in Greenwood cemetery.
