Services for two sisters, Mrs. Margaret G. Drees, 69, of 1918 Elizabeth, and Mrs. Mary Edith Smith, 67, of 4320 Oakland, both of Kansas City, Kansas, were held on Tuesday morning, July 8th, at the Gibson-Butler Chapel, followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Cathedral. Both passed away from injuries suffered in a one-car accident on U.S. 69, north of Louisburg, Kansas, on Tuesday, July 1st. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary was said on Monday night, July 7th, at the Gibson-Butler Chapel, where friends called during the afternoon.
Mrs. Drees and Mrs. Smith were born near Pittsburg, Kansas, and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, for 50 years. Mrs. Drees was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral, its Altar Society, the Sister Servants of Mary Guild and the Providence Hospital Guild. Mrs. Smith was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, its Altar Society and the Sister Servants of Mary Guild. Surviving them were a brother, James A. Murray of 7901 Riverview, and a sister, Mrs. Florence McWilliams of 1311 North 77th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
Mrs. Drees was survived by her husband, Herman L. Drees; a son, Louis F. Drees of 3506 West 48th Terrace in Roeland Park, Kansas; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret M. McWilliams, 427 North Grandview in Kansas City, Kansas; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was survived by her husband, Harry J. Smith; two sons, James R. Smith of Wichita and Donald E. Smith of 7321 Horton in Overland Park; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia A. Zeller of 5732 Rowland in Kansas City, Kansas; and 15 grandchildren.
