She was a member of Bridges Chapel M.B. Church, she received her bachelor's degree from Rust College and her master's in early childhood development from the University of Mississippi , she was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., she worked as a social worker for many years and she retired from North MS Regional Center as a Vocational Training Instructor.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Smith( Shannon, MS) , three sons, Kenneth Patterson (Bruce, MS), Ruben and Denarius Pinson (Shannon, MS), two daughters, Alethea Banks (Dallas, GA) and Tanunyia Williams (Jackson, MS), one sister, Elma Jean Zinn (Pittsboro, MS), and one brother, Bob Hearvey (Marion, IN)
