James “Rooster” Reford Thacker, age 68, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Pikeville Medical Center. Reford was born May 19, 1950 in Pikeville, KY to the late Avonelle Thacker Ray.
Besides both parents, Reford is preceded in death by granddaughter, Shaina Whitt; one sister, Martha Marlene Slone; and like a father, Thomas Jefferson Thacker.
Reford is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Alice Thacker of Pikeville, KY; son, Jeremiah Thacker and his wife, Crystal of Magnolia, KY and like a son, Sahne Whitt; four daughters, Angela Renee Thacker and Mose Adkins of Pikeville, KY, Tina Whitt of Richmond, KY, Nelletta Compton and her husband, Robert of Pikeville, KY and Christian Kouns and her husband, Jeff of Ashland, KY; brother, Ronald Ray and his wife, Cheryl of Pikeville, KY; brother in law, Curt Slone of Shelbiana, KY; Grandchildren, Emma Whitt, Sydney Compton, Nichole Carroll, Billy “BJ” Carroll, Tim Carroll and his wife, Kaitlynn, Hope Carroll, Abigail Rose, Dalton Rose, Jasmie Robinson and her husband, Austin, Gracilynn Ratliff, Blane Ratlifff, Kyndall Kouns, and Chantana Kouns; great granchildren, Braiden Carroll, Anya Robinson, Caden and Aubree Rose.
Reford was known to many as Rooster. He devoted most of his life to working as a Constable, helping everyone that he could. Reford will be certainly missed and was loved by many.
The family will accept friends at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Chapel, Thursday and Friday, February 14 and 15, 2019, at 6:00 PM. Services will be held nightly beginning at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 1:00 PM. Doug Tackett and Jimmy Jack Adkins will officiate all services for Reford. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, KY.
