Lewis Dansie Arthur, age 84, passed away at his home surrounded by his family February 9, 2019, in St. George, UT. He was born July 14, 1934 in Fort Bridger, WY, to Elmer and Minnie Arthur. Lewis spent his early years growing up in Fort Bridger, and graduated from Fort Bridger High School. After several years working in ranching, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served two years in Korea as a radio operator. After his enlistment expired, he found employment as a signalman with Union Pacific Railroad, often moving to various locations as required. Lewis had his position moved to Gila Bend, AZ, where he was eventually offered a position with Pan American Airlines. He simultaneously started an appliance repair business which appealed to his tinkering side. His position was moved to Las Vegas, where, after Pan American Airlines went into bankruptcy, he was hired by Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Company. He spent several years working at the nuclear test site as a journeyman electrician as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #357 outside of Las Vegas. He then went on to work at many construction projects around the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, as well as many power stations throughout the western part of the U.S. Lewis enjoyed spending leisure time with his family. He enjoyed making pomegranate jelly and wine, dabbled in brewing craft beer and he was exceptionally talented at fine woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and hiking with his family. He was especially proud of his work as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 263 in North Las Vegas. He had an uncanny ability to make long lasting friendships wherever he journeyed. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Minnie; brothers, Clarence and Jim; sisters, Ellen, Wanda, and Dora; wife, Marcell and wife, Neta; and stepson, Roy. Lewis is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Rex (Joey) of Las Vegas, and Mark of Emerado, ND; brother, Ramon (Sue) of Yuma, AZ; step-children, Claude (Jackie) of Big Piney, WY, Jerry (Bev) of Lyman, WY, Tammy (Terry) of Fort Bridger, Milton (Megan) of Henderson, Cindy of Henderson, Steven of Scottsdale, AZ, and Gregg (Yolanda) of Las Vegas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank Giving Home Health Care, Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, RN Shanna, and CNA Nora. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-noon Thu., Feb. 14, with services following, both at Bunker's Eden Vale Mortuary, 925 N Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Interment to follow at 2 p.m. at Bunker's Eden Vale Memorial Park, 1216 N Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army color guard.
