Mrs. Betty Jane Dixon Brown, 74, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York.

Betty was the second child born to the late Lois and Joe Dixon, Jr. Betty was reared by her paternal grandparents, the late Josie Mae and Joe Dixon, Sr.

Betty was educated in Colquitt County Schools and graduated fro William Bryant High School in 1963.

During her time in Moultrie she was a member if the Triumph Church and Kingdom of God in Christ where she taught Sunday School.

Shortly after graduation she left Moultrie and moved to New York. She was first employed by the Fortuna Foundation where she worked for several years. Betty then became one of the first African Americans to be employed by the Hallmark Greeting Card Corporation, where she worked for many years. She also briefly worked for the NYC Housing Preservation & Development Corporation.

Betty was married to James C. Brown on July 25, 1965. They were married for over 50 years. Betty and James were blessed with a son, Trevor Brown in 1974.

Funeral service held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
