Jeffery Alan Bader
April 9, 1954 - January 30, 2019

KEOTA-Jeffery Alan Bader, age 64, of Holy Cross, Alaska, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019, at Providence Transitional Care Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Since the time of his recent diagnosis of a glioblastoma brain tumor, he was surrounded by his loving family until the time of his passing.

Jeff was born April 9, 1954, in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, to Wendell Dean and Mary Alice (Hinman) Bader and was raised in Bloomfield, Iowa. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1972 then attended Iowa State University for 1 ½ years. He married Judy Herr in 1974, they later divorced. Jeff attended Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science in 1977. In 1992, he received his Masters Degree in Education in one year at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Jeff began his teaching career at Wyaconda, Missouri, teaching 7th through 12th grade Vocational Agriculture and Chemistry, where he taught for 10 years. In the fall of 2002 he moved to Holy Cross, Alaska and was the K-12 principal and 9-12 Vocational Education teacher for 16 years. Jeff enjoyed canoeing/kayaking, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and camping. He was an avid hunter. He was a loving, proud and devoted Dad to his daughter, Jill. They enjoyed many adventurous travel destinations together and loved nature and the outdoors. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his daughter: Jill Bader of Keota; six siblings: Mark (Janna) Bader of Potosi, Wisconsin, Amy (Frank) Tinsley of Columbia, Missouri, Terri (Bob) Maley of Otterville, Missouri, Wanda (Mike) Bader-McGrath of Wasilla, Alaska, Curt (Berta) Bader of Boise, Idaho and Mike (Julie) Bader of Bevier, Missouri; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the United Church of Faith, with Pastor Vince Homan officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
