John Hamilton Arney, fifty-eight-year-old Hickory carpenter, died at his home on the Lincolnton road at 10 am today.

Funeral services will be conducted at Penelope Baptist church at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, with the pastor, Rev. F.G. Womack, in charge, assisted by Rev. M.L. Harris of Valdese.

He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Mary Abee, and the following sons and daughters:
Ralph Arney and Mrs. Louise Sigmon of Hickory, Mrs. Leona Abee of Valdese, Mrs. Virginia Lafone of Newton, and J.D., John, Haran and Kathleen Arney, all of the home.

Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Arney of Morganton, and L.L. Arney of Staunton, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Webb and Mrs. Katie Sides, both of Morganton.

Mr. and Mrs. Arney were married in 1906. He was born January 4, 1880, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Setzer Arney.
