He passed away on Feb. 11, 2019, in Parker, Arizona.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday morning at the church.
Larry graduated from Fairbury High School in 1955, and served for 10 years in the Nebraska National Guard. He married Roma Glee Sukovaty in 1959, in Helvey. He graduated from Fairbury Junior College and Midland University, and earned a masters degree from UNL, and a Specialist Degree from UNK. Larry began teaching in 1957, in Alexandria and Cedar Bluffs, and in 1960, along with his wife Roma, began teaching at Silver Creek. In a span of 40 years, he served as teacher, coach, principal and superintendent, retiring in 2000.
Larry served as Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster to the Silver Creek area for 35 years, was a member of the United Methodist Church, and served on the Litzenberg Hospital Board. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood carving, square dancing, traveling, crop adjusting, and collecting "stuff."
He is survived by three sons: Kelly (Brenda) of Beatrice, Darin (Rhonda) of Columbus, and Bobby of Grand Island; six grandchildren: Megan, Natalie, Grant, Max, Sam and Jem; and four siblings: Jerry (Jacquie) Meyer, Delores Mosher, and Terry (Kerry) Meyer all of Fairbury, and Janice (DuWyne) Pfeifle of Hydro, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roma; parents, William and Hazel; and grandson, Jack.
