"Fire at Refinery Near Oil City Takes Lives of Six Men - Rouseville Resident Succumbs to Heart Seizure While He Watches Flames - EXPLOSIONS COME IN QUICK SUCCESSION - Numerous Workers Taken to Hospital; Blood Plasma Sent - (AP) - Oil City, July 6 - At least six men were killed and a score of others burned today in a series of gasoline explosions at a plant of the Pennzoil Co, between Oil City and Rouseville. Two of the victims died almost instantly while four more succumbed later in [the] Oil City hospital. A seventh man, Walter Winters, 52, of Rouseville, died of a heart attack while watching the fire that followed the explosions. Flames swept the scene, sending up great clouds of black smoke, and the force of the fire prevented rescue workers from examining the ruins immediately for others who might have lost their lives...."
