Cecelia Hanson, 80, Bismarck, died February 9, 2019, at her home.

Cecelia was born December 11, 1938, in Bowman, ND, the daughter of John and Regina (Hirsh) Frank. She attended Star School in Bowman until the 8th grade and worked on the family farm until she moved to Bismarck. Cecelia worked as a housekeeper at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Bismarck when she met the love of her life, Richard F. Hanson. The couple was married on April 28, 1962 and lived on Richard’s family farm northeast of Bismarck. Cecelia and Richard raised four girls on the farm.

During her time on Earth, she did many jobs, mostly housekeeping, and her last job was watching infants at ECLC. Cecelia loved to be outside, camping and fishing with her family and taking vacations to National Parks. She was a pool shark back in the day and won many tournaments at the “Corner Pocket” billiards bar. Cecelia also loved to bowl and throw horseshoes, winning numerous awards in both. Cecelia and Richard enjoyed woodworking together, working side by side making handmade rocking horses and selling them at craft fairs all over ND, until Richard’s death in 2011.

Cecelia always made time for her four girls and her grandchildren. She was always in the shadows, you knew she was there for support.

Cecelia is survived by her daughters, Charlotte (Deland) Galster, Shirleen Hettich, Shirley Davis (Evan Erickson), and Cindy (Les) Larson; seven grandsons and their wives, Richard (Charlene) Davis, Ed Davis, Brian Galster, John (Shelby) Boehm, Kenny (Shayla) Boehm, Cayce Hettich, Allan (Ali) Larson; two granddaughters, Lisa (Victor) Nrikwamndu and Shannon Larson; two adopted grandson, Zach Caron and Daniel Frausto; four great-granddaughters, Alex Wandler, Liora Berrios, Keyshia Williams, and Harmony Nrikwamndu; seven great-grandsons, Dylan Wandler, Hunter Boehm, Irvin and Lucas Larson, Zane Frausto, Jace Boehm, and Coltan Larson ; and special family friends, Sue Caron, Eric Woodcock, and Daniel Steidl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; one grandson, Lucas Boehm; two sisters; two brothers; one son-in-law, Terry Hettich; and her parents.
