Elaine J. (Boran) Benson, 89 of Castle Creek passed away on February 4, 2019 after a short illness at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. She is survived by her husband Lewis Benson, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, her daughter Nancy Benson (Roger) Fowler of Castle Creek and her granddaughter Danielle M. Costanza and fiancé Justin Atwood of Columbia, Missouri. Born in Binghamton to Chester and Mabel Boran, Elaine was a 1948 graduate of Binghamton Central High School and a 1951 graduate of Wilson Memorial School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in pediatrics and then obstetrics at Wilson Memorial Hospital until the mid-70's. She was a member of Chenango Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, gleefully acting as color guard with her best friend Becky Church. Elaine was an avid knitter and made many baby blankets and lap throws over the years for family, friends and charities locally and in Florida.
