Dennis Ernst Meyer, age 69 of Nebraska City died February 9, 2019 near Syracuse as the result of a farm accident. Dennis was born December 4, 1949 in Syracuse, the son of Rudolph C. and Minnie S. (Sporhase) Meyer. Dennis lived in the Otoe County area his entire life and graduated from Talmage High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Peru State College in 1972. Dennis loved farming and farmed in the Otoe County area for many years. He also loved spending time with family and attending his nieces and nephews sporting events. Dennis was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage, Elks Lodge No. 1049, Eagles Aerie No. 968, Western Star Lodge No. 2, A.F. & A.M., Tangier Shrine Center and Arbor Shrine Club. Survivors include his sister, Lois Ikenberry and husband Larry of Palmyra; brothers, Ervin Meyer, Wayne Meyer and wife Kathy, Lynn Meyer and wife Cindy, all of Nebraska City; sister in law, Ruby Meyer of Sun Lakes, AZ; long time friend, Sandy Sterling and her family of Nebraska City; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard, Norman and Ivan.
