Lawrence E. Phillips passed away peacefully at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with neuroendocrine cancer.
Lawrence became a CAN and worked at Briarcliff nursing home while obtaining his nursing degree. Lawrence was a RN who worked on the cancer ward for ten years at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, three years as a floating nurse, and six years in dialysis for Fresenius. He was an excellent nurse in the words of his patients. They often said he was the “Best nurse they ever had.”
Lawrence loved baking, cooking, making crafts and gardening. Lawrence’s faith was placed solely in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary.
He is preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents: Link and Stella Phillips, Blake Neptune and Stella Burgos, several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Lawrence’s wishes were to be cremated and his remains placed beside his grandmother in the family cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Caryville.
A memorial Service will be held to honor him Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Caryville, Tennessee with Rev. Murl Phillips officiating.
