Marv was born in Bountiful, Utah on 12 October 1923, where he was raised and spent most of his life. He had the opportunity to serve his country and did so, faithfully, near the end of WWII, as a fighter pilot in the United States Navy.
Following his military service, Marv married the former Lucy Wendrich on 31 May 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple. At that time, he was attending the University of Utah from which Marvin eventually graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, before embarking on a long, successful career in various electronic sales and development / engineering roles. His final career stop was at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, where he spent thirty years specializing in aviation electronics, specifically with respect to the design and functionality of several surface-to-air, air-to-air missiles and other advanced military weapons. As an example of his exemplary career, Marvin was honored as a guest by the United States Air Force in Washington, D.C., where he was recognized by the Administration of then-President George H. W. Bush for a cost-savings strategy he designed and implemented during his time at HAFB.
Marvin exemplifies attributes of intelligence, service, kindness, love, dedication, and so many others that are valued by our society and all of humanity.
He loved animals, nature and geography and, as the author of various published books, loved discussing, exploring and learning to understand the many mysteries of the universe and the human mind. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marvin lived his life on earth in the service of family, friends and many others. He is loved and will be missed, but more importantly, will be celebrated for the blessing he has been to his family and all those who know him.
Left to cherish his memory are Marvin's loving wife, Lucy Lewis; their daughters, Julie McCall and Jill (Reggie) Springer; along with their six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Friends may greet Marv's family from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., on Wednesday, 13 February 2019, at Russon Brothers' Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, where Funeral services will convene at 2 P.M., followed by Interment.
