Janis Fairley Pittman died peacefully at her home in Gulfport, MS on Thursday February 7th after a brief struggle with cancer. Janis was born in Gulfport on May 18, 1939 to Richard and Pat Fairley.

Janis grew up in Orange Grove and lived most of her adult life in Gulfport. She worked in real estate beginning in the mid-1970’s eventually obtaining her Brokers license and opening her own business. She later worked with Coldwell Banker Alfonso Realty in Gulfport. She loved working in Real Estate and spent much time developing relationships and mentoring other professionals. She served as a member and President of the Gulf Coast Board of Realtors, obtained her GRI Realtor designation and was a member of the National Association of Realtors.

Janis was a member of Nugent United Methodist Church in Lyman. She was an avid Saints football fan, always donning her black and gold before cheering on her team. She was a member of the Red Hat society and enjoyed socializing with friends.

Family was her greatest passion, she loved spending time with her brothers and sister, her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She loved them all and never missed sending a birthday card or well wishes.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Dick Fairley and VJ and Pat Kin; and the love of her life, her spouse of 46 years, W.N. “Bill” Pittman.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Joe) Harris of Gulfport and Cindy (Nelson) Hensley of Huntsville, AL; sons, David (Cindy) Belew of Biloxi and Tony (Lauri) Belew of Gulfport, Richard Pittman of Louisville, KY, Randy (Sarah) Pittman of Tampa, FL; and her grandchildren, Amy, Lacey and Joey Harris of Gulfport and Linsey (Jeffrey) O’Keefe of Biloxi; her other grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, including her youngest, Layla Elaine. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald (Emma Kate) Fairley of Ocean Springs, Patsy (Bob) Dingman of Gulfport and Dickie (Cindy) Fairley of Gulfport; and by her beloved pet poodle and constant companion, Lady FiFi.

Janis was a special lady who left behind many loving friends and family. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all.
Special thank you to Diane Falcon at Clip and Dip Dog Grooming for always taking extra special care of her FiFi and for being a good friend; and to Jim and Taffy Birdsong for being the best back-yard neighbors anyone could ask for.

Thank you to Dr Allison Wall and the caring staff at MHG Cancer Center; also, to Jessica Brann at Kare in Home Health Agency; and a special thank you to her many friends and neighbors who were so kind to her during her illness.
