Gene son of the late Wylie Turner and Emilie Robinson Turner. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Gene retired from Equilon Oil Company after 35 years of service. He coached City of Charleston and St. Andrews youth football, soccer, baseball and basketball teams. He supported the Middleton High School Scarlett Vanguard Marching Band 1990-1994 hauling equipment and props all over South Carolina.
He is survived by two daughters, a son and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother James Turner and sister Mary Barfield.
