On the evening of December 21, 2016, Margie Duncan was called home by her precious savior. Margie was born on April 13, 1930. She was one of nine children of the late Annie Arlene and Levi Williams. Margie was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved flowers and planting them in her yard made her happy. Margie was retired from DISD, where she worked in school lunch rooms for many years. In those days, meals were cooked onsite in the school cafeteria. She loved to cook and was even a pastry chef for a while. She loved talking to the children and hearing stories that they would share with her. She loved and cared for the kids and it was known that she would pay for the lunches when the kids didn’t have the money to buy their own meals. At home she loved to cook and make her girls dresses to wear to church and school. Church was a very important part of her life and she was saved at Laurel Land Baptist Church in the early 60s. Ms. Margie loved her church and church family and many members called her “Grandma Margie’ or “Ma”. Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-one years Troy Lee “Ted” Duncan, Sisters Gladys Shipley, Louise McPee, Maxine Tuttle, Mildred Kile, Ruth Ann Davis and brother Truman Lee Williams and parents Annie Arlene and Levi Williams. Margie is survived by her children: Carol Garrett, Linda Foster and son-in-law Charlie, Ted Duncan and daughter-in-law Pauleen; sisters, Edna McPadden and Nina Titsworth; and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Margie Marie Duncan, Loved by all and never forgotten.
