Richard “Rick” Wayne Houghton, 64, of Gardner, KS passed away Feb. 7, 2019 at Olathe Hospice House. Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tues., Feb. 12, 2019 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Funeral will be held 10:30 am Wed., Feb. 13, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial follows at Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Olathe Hospice House.

Rick was born Sept. 6, 1954 in KCMO to Wayne and Bernadine June (Lanphere). He grew up in Overland Park, KS where he graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1972. Rick attended radio operator school for two years. He married Betty A. Aldridge on July 6, 1974 in Overland Park, KS. They moved to Edgerton and then to Gardner in 1988. Rick retired in 2018 as a press operator at ITW Label in Gardner. He previously had worked for Deluxe Printing where he retired in 1996. Rick enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren, loved to grill and swim and was a Chiefs football fan. He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Ann Houghton. Rick is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; sons: Ian Houghton, Gardner, KS, Jason and wife Gini Houghton, Gardner, KS and Ryan and wife Candace Houghton, Edgerton, KS; three grandchildren and one on the way: Katrina, Layla and Elijah.
