Mr. Maurice Lavonzo Harris, Sr. was born on December 18, 1962 to the late Charles Harris, Sr. and Betty Ziglar Harris in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from Parkland High School and was a freelance artist. Mr. Harris was an artist who could paint a portrait just as well as he could paint a house. He loved spending time with his sons, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harris was baptized and received early Christian Education at St. Stephens Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his brothers, Ferlanderus Alexander Harris and Charles Ervin Harris, Jr.

He leaves to cherish their memories his two sons: Maurice Harris, Jr. and Shamar Harris; one granddaughter, Chloe Harris; one sister Doris Charlene Harris (Aaron) Oliver; devoted friend, Angela Boyd; aunt, Margie Ruth Reaves; two nephews Chante (Verena) Taylor and Chante Taylor, Jr.; great nephew, Michael Kollie; nieces: Monica Taylor and Ferlonda Christine Taylor; and a host of other relatives and close friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Greater Galilee Baptist Church. The family will greet friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
