He worked for Illinois Department of Transportation for 30 plus years as a Foreman prior to his retirement.
Mike was born August 18, 1949, in Iowa, the son of Harold and Delores "Dee" (Detzel) Winters. He married Helen Louise Mumford on October, 19, 1969, in Sterling, IL. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2013.
Mike was a member of the Teamsters Union #722, Lee County Republican Party and Dixon Elks Lodge #779. He loved all sorts of vehicles, including muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles "especially Harley Davidsons." You could find Mike watching his beloved team "Green Bay Packers" during football season, but his main passion would be taking care of his dog, Allie and cat, Baby Kitty.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Michael J. (Billie-Anne) Winters, Jr. of Amboy, Wade (Jennifer) Winters of Dixon; one sister; Doreen Johnson of Woosung; eight grandchildren, Cody A. Winters, Ashley Winters, Kaitlyn Winters, Logan Winters, Ashley Winters, Zachary Winters, Brandon Winters and Tony Stramka; and 4 great grandchildren, Brynleigh Winters, Anakin O'Dell, Nova Winters, and Ryan Buckley, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brent Allen Winters; and one daughter, Michelle L. Winters; two brothers, Sonny and Cory Winters.
A memorial visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m., on Friday, February 8, 2019, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Sheley, officiating. Cremations rites have been accorded.
