Janet M. Russell, 96, of Indianapolis, went to her heavenly home February 7, 2019. Janet was born December 29, 1922, in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Lloyd and Jennie Dalton.

She married William L. Russell in 1944 in Pineville, Kentucky. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed traveling the United States in their camper. Their favorite vacation spot was Myrtle Beach. As a young woman, Janet worked as an operator for Southern Bell Telephone, Kentucky. She moved with her husband and children to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1961. Mrs. Russell was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She liked to write poetry and served as an elementary Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. Janet was a member of Thompson Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Russell; brothers, Hollis Dalton and Gene Dalton; and sister, June Dalton. Janet is survived by her children, Barbara (Sam) Robinson, Bob (Glenda) Russell and Helen (Greg) Templeton; and sister, Doris McWilliams of Florida. Janet had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 11:00 a.m/ to 12:00 noon, with a funeral service at 12:00 noon in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Joel Stevens, Assistant Pastor will officiate.
