Mrs. Rounds was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Sibley, the daughter of Charles Roosevelt and Sarah Owens Rounds. She attended St. Francis High. She worked as a seamstress while residing in New Orleans and then as a housekeeper after relocating to Los Angeles. She retired in 2006.

Mrs. Rounds loved reading the Bible, performing charity work at St. Vincent Catholic Church and cheering loudly for her Los Angeles Lakers. She also enjoyed talking for hours with her family, listening to contemporary jazz, shopping for antiques, finding ways to help others through difficult times and playing with her cats, Trinity and Biscuit.

Mrs. Rounds was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Charles and Margaret Rounds, Freeman and Minerva Washington; four brothers, Charles, Willie, Robert and James; and one sister, Alberta.

She leaves her legacy of faith, love, strength, loyalty, duty, ambition and humor to her three daughters, Pamela Sarah Washington of Houston, Texas, Wortha Washington Woods and husband, Robert, of Natchez and Thryeris S. Mason of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, Lynzetta Raven Washington, Tiaesha Woods Lands and husband, Joshua, Brandon Washington, Whitney Washington and Robert Woods Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Jaida Alexandria Lands and Joshua Darnell Lands II; five siblings, Isaiah, Joe and wife, Kathleen, Angie Lee Fitzgerald, Helen Lewis and Lee Andrew and wife, Gladys; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever remember her giving and protective sprit.
