Born September 28, 1929, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles and Lena (Siefkin) Moehn . On August 8, 1954, she married Richard Lant Sullivan in Burlington.
Marilyn was a teacher at the Burlington Community School System for 42 years.
She was a 1947 Burlington High School graduate and continued her education at Western Illinois University. In 1952, she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Music. Marilyn was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority in college.
She was a member and past officer with the Burlington Retired Teachers Association, member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, and directed and financed the Sunshine Singers for the Burlington Community School System for 18 years. Marilyn was also active in Cub Scouts with Pack 11.
Marilyn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She directed choir at Trinity Lutheran for over thirty years and directed the Silver Singers in Burlington, Iowa for 15 years. Music filled Marilyn's heart with joy. Her love for music inspired her students, the numerous choirs she directed, and the community.
Marilyn enjoyed baking, playing pinochle, and watching Jeopardy. She loved traveling to Hawaii and tanning by the pool, but most of all, Marilyn loved her family.
Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband.
May she rest in the love of Christ with those who have gone before her.
