Virgil Brower
EDDYVILLE – Virgil John Brower, 80, of 601 Walnut, Eddyville, died July 5, 2002, at Knoxville Community Hospital, Knoxville.
He was born Sept. 1, 1921, in Mahaska County to Ben and Jeanette Vroom Brower. He married Gertrude Sterk Dec. 20, 1944, they divorced. He married Willamae Osing May 2, 1969. She preceded him in death July 28, 2000.
He owned and operated his own dozer for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Leon Brower of Bettendorf and Jeffrey Brower of Peola, Kan.; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Sterk of Oskaloosa and Grace McFall of Penn Valley, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Ada Brower.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Eddyville, with the Rev. Gary McDonough officiating. Entombment will be in Shrine of Memories Mausoleum.
Open visitation began 4 p.m. Sunday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with the family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jared Brower, George Osing, Randy Osing, Doug Osing, Henry Fynaardt and Bill Hynick.
Memorials are open.
