Mark D. Wood, 53, of Springville died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, in Henderson County, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Memorial visitation will be at noon on Saturday at Sulphur Well Church of Christ, followed by a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the church with Randy Stephens and Bob Palmer officiating. Honorary pallbearers for the service are Joe White, Kyler Ainley, Michael Boelsteri and Ethan Boelsteri.

His body is to be cremated. Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

He was born March 30, 1964, in East Point, Ga., to William D. and Margie Johnston Wood of Springville, both whom survive.

He married Melinda Williams Wood of Springville on Nov. 7, 1992, and she survives.

Wood was employed by FedEx, where he had worked for 29 years, first as a ramp agent and then as a truck driver. He was a United States Air Force veteran and was a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ. Some of his hobbies included reading, playing video games, working puzzles, building models with Legos and working.

He is also survived by his three children: Megan, Mason and Michael Wood, all of Springville; a sister, Donna (Randy) Stephens of Springville; a brother, Bill (Paula) Wood of Jonesboro, Ga.; his mother-in-law, Linda Williams of Springville; a niece, Lauren Wood; three nephews: Kyle (Jenn) Stephens, David Stephens (fiancée Ashley Clement) and Richard (Sara) Wood; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Wood was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John T. "Tommy" Williams.
