Graveside services for Don Coursey, 69, West Plains, Mo., will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Plains, with Pastor Debra Johnston officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
He was born the son of the late Eugene Coursey and Laura Thorpe Coursey, on April 4, 1938, and died May 30, 2007, in Springfield, Mo.He was united in marriage Nov. 7, 1960, in Clayton County, Mo., to Etta Collins.
Mr. Coursey is survived by his wife, Etta Collins Coursey, of the home, West Plains; three children, Penny Palmer and Jimmy Ledbetter, West Plains, Kathy Hardin, husband, Gene, West Plains, and Donnie Coursey, wife, Valerie, West Plains; nine grandchildren, Matthew Palmer, wife, Mary Beth, Joshua Palmer, wife, Hannah, Ashley Hardin, Sam Hardin, Roman Young, Hannah Young, Rachel Coursey, Caitlyn Coursey and Shelby Coursey, all of West Plains; two great grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Jim Coursey, wife, Linda, Springfield, Mo., and Hollis Crowe, Cherokee Village, Ark., and one sister, Irene Norman, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Mr. Coursey was a pastor at Pomona Full Gospel Church, Pomona, for eight years. He was a foreman at Chrysler in Fenton, Mo., for 11 years and was the night manager of Price Chopper in West Plains for 12 years. He loved to hunt and fish, and work in his flower beds. He loved sports, especially basketball. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of choice and can be left at Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, West Plains, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
