Vincent Leslie Carpenter Jr. was born on May 16, 1935 in Bridgeport, Ohio to Vincent Leslie Carpenter, Sr. and Alma Virginia Stewart Carpenter. He spent his growing up years in Pennsylvania and Ohio due to the war and his Father's employment. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1953 and was a proud Bulldog always.

After High School he was employed by the Kroger Company. He decided to join the service and as the Air Force had no Academy at that time was appointed to Aviation Cadets in Harlingen, Texas in July of 1955. He graduated as Navigator/Second Lieutenant in May, 1956. He was assigned to Alaska with Weather Recon flying over the Pole.

After several years, he decided to attend school and enrolled at The Ohio State University. He missed the Air Force and re-entered in 1961. He then trained in several Missile systems and finally returned to his love flying as a Navigator on KC-135 refuelers. He served in Southeast Asia on numerous tours as well as in Spain, England, and several other places. He is a graduate of Kansas Newman College in Wichita, Kansas. He retired as Major on February 29,1977.

On November 24, 1960 he married his love Sally L. McCue Carpenter who survives at the home. His other loves are his children.

Other survivors are Brother: Dr. James V. Carpenter and wife Sara Louise of Midlothian, Va. Sister: Virginia Hodgkiss, Husband Dean of Steubenville, Ohio. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After retirement he was employed by Employment Security, Mosers, and UMR for 10 years.

He was a native supporter of S&T's Campus Performing Arts, Ozark Actor's Theater, and fine Linen Theater. He also served and a Deacon at St.James Christian Church and as Elder at Forest City Christian Church. He was Cub Master of Pack 95 for several years and was a huge Buckeye Football Fan.

His other loves were his big dogs Duke and duchess and all the ones who came before them.

At the time of his passing, he was a member to the St. James United Methodist Church.

Visitation for Vincent Carpenter will be conducted on Thursday, February 7, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James,Mo.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 A.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. Burial will be in the Fort Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, Mo.
