William George Louwsma was born on September 12, 1925, at Prairie City, Iowa. He was the youngest child of George and Christine (Nugteren) Louwsma. He spent most of his childhood years in the Prairie City, Iowa, where he attended school. “Bill” was united in marriage with Virginia Ruth (Burdick) and to this union two children were born: Donna Lea and David Paul. Bill was inducted into the United States Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theatre near the Philipines during World War II, aboard the USS Baltimore. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Bill was later married Elsie Louwsma. She passed away in 1992. Bill was a truck driver for several years and later became active in prison ministries. Bill accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1975, and was a member of the Pleasantville Baptist Church. Bill passed away on February 3, 2019, at the Westridge Care Center in Knoxville, Iowa at the advanced age of 93. He is survived by his son, David Louwsma of Knoxville, his grandson, Eric Enfield of Boone, Iowa, son-in-law, William K. Baker, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was the last surviving member of his original family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, his daughter Donna Lea Baker, his parents, and all of his siblings, Madeline, Jacob, Effie, Florence and Jesse.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 am at thePleasantville Baptist Church, rural Pleasantville, Iowa.
Interment with military honors at Gosport Cemetery near Melcher, Iowa.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorials are suggested for the Pleasantville Baptist Church.
